(Frédéric Pepin/Radio-Canada)A man has died after he was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 50 just east of Gatineau shortly before midnight on Monday, according to Quebec provincial police.The man, who was in his 40s, was driving an SUV eastbound along the highway when he veered out of his lane, the Sûreté du Québec told Radio-Canada. The SUV collided with a large vehicle travelling the other direction. Specialized gear was used to pull the man out of the wreckage and he was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the heavy vehicle was also taken to hospital as a precaution.Police said they are still investigating the cause of the accident and Highway 50 is closed in both directions between routes 309 and 317.
