(Hanna Petersen/CBC)Fifteen people have been displaced by a fire on the third floor of a supportive housing building in Prince George, B.C.Prince George Fire Rescue says they were called to 160 Ontario St. at about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, with 15 firefighters from three halls responding.No injuries were reported and the building was saved, but the city says smoke and water damage is estimated at $50,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.The building, near the city’s downtown core, was opened in 2022 by the city and B.C. Housing to deliver “50 urgently needed, purpose-built supportive homes for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness,” connecting them with support services and skills training, as well.When a CBC News reporter visited the scene, no external damage was visible.CBC News has reached out to the agencies connected with the building to learn more about the impact on residents.
