(Robert LeClair/CBC)Summerside police have charged two people after a weekend fire destroyed two homes and damaged a third, the department said in a news release Monday.The Summerside Police Services and Summerside Fire Department responded to the blaze on Belmont Street around 11:40 p.m. Saturday. When crews arrived, a two-storey residence was already fully engulfed in flames.The sole occupant escaped through a second-storey window with help from officers and a neighbour.The fire then spread, destroying another nearby home and causing significant damage to a third. Several vehicles were also damaged, and neighbouring houses had to be evacuated.Police say they arrested two suspects early Sunday morning.The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information about the fire to contact Summerside Police Services. (Robert LeClair/CBC)The first suspect, 47-year-old Terrance Wilson, and the second, 19-year-old Hannah Callaghan, are facing multiple charges. Each has been charged with three counts of arson with disregard for human life and three counts of arson causing damage to property.Wilson faces an additional charge of breach of undertaking. Callaghan is facing additional charges of breach of undertaking, possession of incendiary material, and another count of arson in relation to a separate incident on Sept. 22.Both suspects have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in court Monday.The investigation is ongoing.
