(Jeorge Sadi/CBC)Two people have died and three more were injured after police say a vehicle driving the wrong way on the Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5) crashed on Friday.An RCMP statement says police were called just before 9 p.m. PT about a vehicle driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway just south of Kamloops, B.C.The statement says that, before police were able to intervene, a grey Dodge Ram pickup and a white Hyundai Kona hatchback collided head-on.The statement does not say which vehicle is believed to have been travelling in the wrong direction, but says the collision killed two people and seriously wounded three others. Cpl. Michael McLaughlin says in the statement that police are investigating the possibility that criminal behaviour caused the crash.He says police need every available witness and camera footage to explain what the drivers were doing in the minutes and hours leading up to the collision.Anyone with information is being asked to call police.WATCH | Wildfire closes Coquihalla for two days: Coquihalla Highway reopens after wildfire closureThe Coquihalla Highway is now open to drivers between Hope and Meritt after the Mine Creek wildfire prompted its closure. But as Johna Baylon reports, the fire continues to burn out of control, placing much of the province under an air quality warning.The crash caused an hours-long closure on the Coquihalla Highway near the Inks Lake turnoff on Friday night, RCMP said.It came just hours after the highway was closed further south due to a truck fire between Hope and Merritt, B.C.That truck fire also followed a two-day-long closure of the highway, due to the out-of-control Mine Creek wildfire, which on Wednesday jumped the critical highway than connects Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley to the Interior.
