(Josh Crabb/CBC)Two men have been arrested in connection with the homicide of an O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation man who was found dead inside a Winnipeg hotel room more than two years ago.Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service members responding to a medical call found Treymaine Traverse, 33, dead inside the Manwin Hotel on Main Street on the morning of March 9, 2023.Traverse was a member of O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation, about 780 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, but police said he was living in Manitoba’s capital at the time. His death was considered suspicious, and police later said it was a homicide.Police arrested Dion Trent Spotted Eagle, 36, on a warrant for second-degree murder on Thursday, police said in a news release Tuesday. Police arrested Harry Andrew Bittern, 34, on Sunday on warrants for aggravated assault and apprehension and suspension in connection with the case.Police said they believe both men were acquaintances of Traverse. Bittern and Spotted Eagle remain in custody.
