(Ontario Provincial Police/YouTube)Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three suspects with first-degree murder of a man who was reported missing from the Smiths Falls area two years ago.Robbie Thomson was 34 when he disappeared in October 2023. Police used dogs and airplanes to search for him, and recently offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.Residents of the community southwest of Ottawa were on edge following Thomson’s disappearance, along with the disappearance of two other men, one of whom was later found dead. Police have not linked the three cases.On Thursday, OPP said they have yet to locate Thomson, but believe he was killed. The search is now on for his body.Three people have been charged with first-degree murder: Christopher Fenton, 48, and Erin Mackie, 40, both from nearby Montague Township, and 34-year-old Joshua Belfiori of Kingston.All three suspects were arrested Wednesday, police said. They are expected in court Thursday.OPP spokesperson Bill Dickson would not discuss the evidence that led to the charges, nor whether the suspects knew Thomson. He added it’s too early to say whether the reward will be paid.OPP said their investigation continues, and said residents can expect a large police presence around a home on Kelly Jordan Road near Smiths Falls.With files from Joseph Tunney
