(CBC)A 41-year-old woman has died after she was assaulted on a Manitoba First Nation, police say.On Sept. 12 around 11:35 a.m., Little Grand Rapids RCMP received a report of an assault that had occurred two weeks prior in Pauingassi First Nation, about 280 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba RCMP said in a news release.  When police were notified, Melissa Owens-Keeper, the victim, was in critical condition at a hospital in Winnipeg.On Sept. 22, Owens-Keeper, who’s from Pauingassi, died in hospital.Manitoba RCMP major crime services have taken charge of the investigation. Little Grand Rapids RCMP and major crime services continue to investigate Owens-Keeper’s death. Anyone with information or who had contact with Owens-Keeper between Aug. 30 and Sept. 12 is asked to call the Little Grand Rapids RCMP detachment at 204-397-2249.
