The Islanders won the opener 12-1 while the Royals bounced back to take Game 2 by an 8-5 score.At Kiwanis Park in Moncton, N.B., Ben’s line also includes one walk and three strikeouts. McDonald gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits in four innings of work.Jackson Dekker, who gave up seven runs (six earned) in 4.1 innings of work was the pitcher of record for Moncton.Early leadThe Islanders jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Mets scored a single run in the second and two more in the third to tie the game 3-3.Article contentThe Islanders retook control with a five-run fifth inning and went on to outhit Moncton 10-9.Josh Myers (2-4, run scored, two runs batted in, stolen base) and Nick MacPhail (2-4, run scored, two runs batted in) also chipped in offensively for the Islanders.Shawn Bartley (2-3) and Justin Cormier (2-4) were the Mets’ top hitters.The Islanders’ next game is a rematch against the Mets at Memorial Field in Charlottetown on June 17.
