It has been enough to keep us open for another month, has given us a huge boost to our morale, and we have great plans for the future.”Article contentThe store was closed Saturday and does not operate Sundays, but the statement said it would be open Monday at 10 a.m. “as usual.”Article content“We appreciate and look forward to your ongoing support, and hope to be your community bookstore for many more years,” the company said on its website.Article contentThe store bills itself as one of the largest second-hand bookshops in Canada, offering an inventory of hard-to-find, out-of-print, used and rare books.Article contentThe business opened on Barrington Street in downtown Halifax in 1987 and relocated to Dartmouth in 2013.Article contentLongtime customer David Jones used his Instagram account – Dartmouth History Blog – to alert people about the store’s possible closure last week and to share the good news about the reprieve Saturday.Article contentIn an interview at the shop last week, the Dartmouth historian said it was nice to see the driveway filled with cars and the aisles filled with people of all ages.Article content“I think a lot of people are coming here for the first time and hopefully there will be more times for them to come,” Jones said.Article content“I love the Nova Scotia history section, which is right when you walk in the door. It involves less clawing and looking around, but the way this store is laid out, you never know what you are going to find in a pile or a box.
