Abegwiet First Nation singer earns golden buzzer on Canadas Got Talent

DeeDee Austin delivered an emotional performance this week to earn a ticket to the semi finals of Canada’s Got Talent. The 19-year-old from Abegwiet First Nation on Prince Edward Island wrote the song “Buried Truth” to pay tribute to her late grandmother, a residential school survivor. Her delivery caught the ear of judge Howie Mandel who rewarded Austin with his golden buzzer.
