I guess everything is.”Article contentArticle contentWith a few songs recorded, Deveaux said plans are to release them over the next year while writing and recording the other songs for her softmore album, which isn’t titled yet.Article content“There’s a lot (of things inspiring it). Basically, just how life has been since 2020. Essentially, it’s a little more personal,” said Deveaux.Article content“It’s not very much like ‘Honey’. It’s a little rockier than ‘Honey’ was.”Article contentPROUD TO PERFORM AT PRIDEArticle contentTouring a lot outside of Cape Breton before the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, things slowed down when the world shut down.Article contentDuring the lockdowns and limits to public gatherings, Deveaux wrote and recorded her first album Honey.Article contentWhile the first single was released on time, the album release was delayed due to the pandemic and touring in support essentially halted.Article contentNow, Deveaux’s touring schedule is picking up again and she is looking forward to her upcoming performance for the Show Your Pride variety show at the Holiday Inn on Aug. 15.Article contentArticle contentPlaying new and old material, Deveaux is looking forward to showing audiences what she’s been working on.Article contentArticle content“We have a few (new) singles that we’re planning to put out throughout the year,” said Deveaux, who has been playing guitar for about 20 years.Article content“They’re kind of pop-y. Some of them are really rocky and a little more upbeat than most of what was on Honey. A lot less in the minor key I suppose.”Article contentSHOW YOUR PRIDE VARIETY SHOWArticle contentThe first time Deveaux performed at a Pride Cape Breton event was in 2015 and has been a regular performer since, although she hasn’t been at every one over the past 10 years.Article content“I will never, ever forget going to pride bingo at the Polish Church hall and I can’t remember who was hosting, but they found an Avon book and they called … the Avon lady,” Deveaux recalled, laughing.Article content“They had her on the phone for about 30 minutes. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. Before or after. It was the most perfect, it was Tracy and Martina before Tracy and Martina was even an idea. It couldn’t have been better.”
