(Ron Dhaliwal/CBC)A year after a 49-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Winnipeg bridge, city police have cited a 28-year-old woman with careless driving under Manitoba’s Highway Traffic Act.� Around 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2024, police responded to the Harry Lazarenko Bridge, near Main Street and Redwood Avenue, where a woman had been hit by a car and suffered serious injuries, police said in a news release on Friday. Police said she was lying on the bridge — formerly called the Redwood Bridge — when she was hit. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Last August, more than 100 mourners attended a vigil for Doris Porter, 49, demanding answers and justice after the fatal collision. Porter’s family called for a full investigation into her death.
