Article contentShe was first elected as a Progressive Conservative MLA in 2000 and served until losing her seat in the 2007 election. Through her time in provincial office, Shea served in various roles, including as Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs and then Minister of Transportation and Public Works. Article contentArticle contentShea was elected federally as a Conservative to represent the ridding of Egmont in 2008, the first time the Liberals had lost that seat in more than 20 years. She represented the Island federally until losing her seat in 2015. Article content“I think there’s still lots of fire in the belly and that I should reoffer, so that’s what I’m doing,” Shea told the Journal Pioneer when she announced her intention to run again in the 2015 election.
