(Jillian Renouf/CBC)A 19-year-old man faces a slew of charges after allegedly striking a pair of Ontario Provincial Police officers while street racing in southwest Ottawa Friday night.The officers were hit during a crackdown on a group of drivers illegally racing in the Alti Place area just west of Barrhaven, according to a Saturday afternoon news release from the OPP.When police tried to stop a pair of drivers, one of them struck the two officers before fleeing the scene, OPP said.Neither officer was seriously hurt.An aircraft involved in the operation was able to track the driver who fled, police said, allowing other officers to eventually stop him.The Kanata teen faces numerous charges, OPP said, including two counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, racing a vehicle and stunt driving.Motorcyclist arrestedAs part of the Friday night traffic safety operation, that same plane also tracked a pair of motorcycles that were reaching speeds of up to 230 km/h on Highways 417 and 416, OPP said.The plane followed them through Barrhaven, police said, where they weaved through traffic and ran red lights. One of the motorcyclists, a 20-year-old man from Ottawa, was eventually arrested at a home in Barrhaven.He also faces numerous charges, OPP said, including stunt driving and dangerous driving.
