(Ashley Burke/CBC)An Ottawa bylaw officer was attacked outside city hall Saturday morning after issuing a parking ticket in the area. The attack came to an end after another city employee stepped in, according to an emailed statement from the City of Ottawa.Police said they arrived at the scene around 10:40 a.m. and made an arrest. It’s not clear how badly hurt the parking control officer was, but the city said it’s thankful the injuries “are not more severe.” “The incident was an unacceptable, cowardly act of violence and will not be tolerated. Our officers play an important role in upholding municipal regulations and community safety,” the city stated, adding that it will conduct a full review into what happened. The Ottawa Police Service has charged the suspect with assaulting a peace officer and uttering threats.Mayor Mark Sutcliffe said Monday he was very sad and upset to learn about the incident. “Our city employees … work hard every day on behalf of the community and they deserve to be respected in the workplace,” he said.  With files from Emma Weller and Nathan Fung
