(Halifax Regional Police)Halifax police say an officer shot at a vehicle in the community of Fairview on Wednesday evening after the driver drove toward the officer during a traffic stop.A news release from Halifax Regional Police said two officers were outside of their vehicle on Main Avenue around 7 p.m. when they spotted a car driving erratically.The officers waved down the vehicle and it came to a stop. But as they approached the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated toward one of the officers at a high rate of speed.In an attempt to stop the vehicle, one of the officers drew their weapon and fired two shots at the side of the vehicle, the release said. The vehicle then fled the scene.The officer was not injured. It’s not known whether the two occupants of the vehicle are injured.A few moments later, police stopped a vehicle they suspected was involved in the incident in a parking lot at the corner of Joseph Howe Drive and Dutch Village Road.Four suspects were arrested, but later released after it was determined they and their vehicle were not involved in the incident.At approximately 1 a.m. Thursday, police located the vehicle, a black Nissan Sentra, at a residence in Halifax. A man and a woman were taken into custody. Neither were injured in the shooting.The case is being investigated by the province’s Serious Incident Response Team, which investigates all serious incidents involving police.
