(CBC)Four ferry crossings between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are cancelled Friday morning after a small fire in the crew kitchen of the MV Northumberland.Northumberland Ferries Ltd. general manger Jeff Joyce said the fire started in a dishwasher on the ferry, but it’s since been contained.The 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. crossings have been cancelled. The company said it expects to have the Northumberland’s afternoon sailings back on schedule.Joyce said vehicles had boarded the ferry in Wood Islands, P.E.I., but it was still at the dock when the fire broke out. Vehicles were guided back off the vessel. MV Northumberland has been moved to the secondary dock so that the company’s second vessel, MV Confederation, can complete its departures and arrivals as usual.
