(Halifax Regional Police)Truro police have issued a warning about a high-risk offender who’s now living in the central Nova Scotia town.George Durling, 57, was released from prison earlier this year after servicing a two-year sentence for numerous child pornography charges.He was also convicted for failing to comply with probation orders and with making harassing and indecent text messages and phone calls.According to a release from the Truro Police Service, Durling was convicted for a sexual assault in Manitoba in 1992 and he was convicted for two previous offences in Truro, an assault in 2019 and an indecent act in 2022.Durling’s release conditions include that he stay away from anyone under the age of 16 and places children frequent such as schools, playgrounds and daycares.Halifax Regional Police issued a similar warning about Durling earlier this year, when he was living in Dartmouth.Truro police said they will be doing regular compliance checks on Durling and warned against anyone taking the notice as an excuse to resort to vigilante justice.ABOUT THE AUTHORBlair Rhodes has been a journalist for more than 40 years, the last 31 with CBC.
