(Travis Golby/CBC)Officials are investigating after two homes went up in flames along Pritchard Avenue in the North End on Friday afternoon, the city says. Around 2:40 p.m. on Friday, Winnipeg firefighters responded to a single-family bungalow fire on Pritchard, between Austin Street North and Charles Street, the city said in a press release. The fire was “well-involved” when crews arrived and conditions continued to deteriorate during firefighting efforts inside the house, the city said. Firefighters were forced to exit the house to attack the fire from the outside. The fire was declared under control just after 3:30 p.m.The city said no one was found inside the house and no injuries were reported. However, residents in the home next door were evacuated out of caution. The fire service is arranging an emergency demolition due to structural and concerns and the potential for hot spots to reignite, the city said. Less than two hours after the bungalow fire, crews were called to another blaze on Pritchard Avenue, this time at a vacant two-storey home between McGregor and Parr streets. Just before 5 p.m., firefighters responded to the scene, where they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house, the city said. They entered the home to fight the fire from the inside. It was declared under control just after 5:30 p.m.No occupants were found in the home during a search and no injuries were reported, according to the news release. This is the third time this year that same house has caught fire. The building was previously damaged by separate fires in March and July. No damage estimates are available for either fire, the city said. Both are under investigation.More from CBC Manitoba:
