(Department of Natural Resources)Nine wildfires are burning across New Brunswick as of Tuesday morning, with one in Northumberland County considered out of control.The Beaver Lake Stream fire is in a remote location just north of the Kennedy Lakes Protected Natural Area. The fire is 456 hectares in size.Two of the province’s nine active fires are contained, which means they’re surrounded by barriers like bulldozer breaks or hose lines, which are expected to keep it from spreading further if firefighting efforts continue.According to the province’s definition, those fires are still actively burning and they could potentially jump or spread.The province’s two contained fires are the Rocky Brook fire in Restigouche County and fire 318, about 25 kilometres south of Bathurst.Fire 318 is 0.1 hectares and the Rocky Brook fire is 204 hectares.Five fires are being patrolled, including the Oldfield Road fire and the Chief’s fire, which were previously large out-of-control fires.In its update this morning, the province reminded people that a burn ban remains in place.Tuesday will be mainly sunny with skies turning to a mix of sun and clouds.
