(Carolina de Ryk/CBC)A coroner’s inquest has been scheduled to review the circumstances behind the deaths of a family of four, who were found dead in their Prince Rupert, B.C., home in 2023.Janet Nguyen, her partner Christopher Duong, and their sons Alexander and Harlan Duong were found dead in the 100 block of Silverside Drive around 9 p.m. PT on June 13, 2023, according to police at the time.Investigators said at the time they did not believe there were any outstanding suspects or risk to the public.Now, a coroner’s inquest, which is a non-fault-finding public inquiry, will review what happened.The chief coroner can direct an inquest if they have “reason to believe the public has an interest in being informed about the circumstances surrounding a death, or the death resulted from a dangerous practice or circumstance, and similar deaths could be prevented through recommendations,” according to a press release from the province.The presiding coroner Larry Marzinzik and a jury will hear witnesses present evidence under oath to determine the facts surrounding the deaths, and the jury will be able to make recommendations to prevent deaths in similar circumstances.The inquest is scheduled for Oct. 6 to 24 at the Burnaby Coroners’ Court.With files from Betsy Trumpener, Carolina de Ryk and Lauren Vanderdeen
