The evidence presented is covered by a publication ban. When making this type of decision, the judge overseeing a bail hearing considers such things as if the accused is likely to attend court as required, whether their release would cause a public risk, and whether their detention is needed to maintain public faith in the justice system. On Wednesday, Rehner expressed concerns about releasing Hynes under the bail plan that was presented to her.Hynes has several members of his family agreeable to acting as a group surety group for him, but he would continue to live alone.Rehner said she was prepared to release him if he was to reside with one or two of the sureties. She acknowledged that it was not what was originally proposed and offered to give Beth Newton, the Legal Aid lawyer representing Hynes at the bail hearing, time to pursue if that would be possible.Newton said she would have to speak with the relatives and give them time to consider that.Rehner set the matter over until Friday, April 4, to allow that to happen.Article content
