(CBC)The driver of a pickup truck was killed in a head-on collision with a transport truck on Highway 401 in Kingston, Ont. early Friday morning, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).Emergency crews were called to the westbound lanes, near the Highway 15 interchange around 3 a.m.”Moments prior to the collision, the OPP had received a report of pickup truck traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes,” according to a media release from police.The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators. Their identity has not been confirmed.The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.A section of the westbound lanes between Highway 31 in Gananoque and Montreal Street in Kingston was closed for much of the morning as officers, including the OPP’s collision reconstructionists, investigated the scene.The highway reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Anyone with information about the crash, or who may have dashcam footage of it, is asked to contact Frontenac OPP.
