Two are still burning – one in Martin Lake, the other in Kingston – but are deemed under control. Article contentArticle contentThe Kingston fire was the largest and most destructive, reaching more than 10,000 hectares in size over about a month.Article contentIn a media release, Justice and Public Safety Minister John Haggie said many volunteer firefighters had told the province they didn’t expect to get paid. Article content“We believe they are due an individual stipend for their extraordinary efforts this season but want to do it in a way that honours their request,” Haggie said. Article contentThe province is also providing another $30,000 special assistance grant to the Conception Bay North town of Small Point-Broad Cove-Blackhead-Adam’s Cove, which was especially devastated by wildfires this year,  to help with wildfire remediation, doubling a previous contribution. Article contentArticle content
