A recent search by community members of Kahkewistahaw First Nation for Desira Ross failed to gather any new leads on her disappearance. Ross, 23, has been missing for nearly two months. The First Nation is located about 166 kilometers east of Regina, near the town of Broadview. The latest search took place on the weekend of Sept. 6. According to Kahkewistahaw Chief Evan Taypotat on Facebook, Broadview RCMP recently provided an update to him and the family stating they have no idea where she is. “At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that Desira is in our area, however, there is also no concrete information indicating she is elsewhere. Authorities currently have no clear leads on her whereabouts,” said Taypotat, in a closed member only Facebook group. Taypotat goes onto say there may have been a possible sighting of Ross in Yorkton in late August and that she was also last seen in the company of another man who is known in the community. “If anyone knows where (this man) is, please encourage him to reach out to someone. He too has not been seen for some time,” added Taypotat. The Regina police is also assisting with the investigation and assigned a missing persons detective to the case. The RCMP detachments of Yorkton, Melville, Esterhazy and the Saskatoon Police Service have also been involved in the search.
