NBSBL PLAYOFFS: Islanders rally for extra-inning road win vs. Chatham Ironmen

Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders pitcher Jordan Stevenson pitched a complete game in Game 2 of the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League (NBSBL) final series in Miramichi, N.B., on Sept. 19. With two runners on and two outs, Duncan Picketts hit a fly ball that fell in between two Chatham outfielders, allowing Ryne MacIsaac and Simon Dubois to score on the play that was ruled an error.Article contentArticle contentStevenson, who did not allow a runner since the fifth inning, promptly retired the Ironmen in order in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn the complete-game win.Article contentArticle contentStevenson allowed five hits, two walks and struck out eight in the complete-game effort.Article contentDespite giving up two unearned runs in the top of the eighth inning, Gosse was the pitcher of record for the Ironmen. Gosse allowed two hits, one walk and struck out one in two innings of relief.Article contentIronmen import Julio Hernandez pitched six-plus innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits and four walks.
