JEREMY FRASER/CAPE BRETON POST Photo by Jeremy Fraser /Jeremy FraserA Cape Breton Eagles player signed his first professional contract on Wednesday.Defenceman Tomas Lavoie signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the NHL’s Utah Hockey Club after a successful 2024-25 season in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League.The 19-year-old Lavoie finished the regular season with 15 goals and 55 points in 60 games. He also recorded one assist in four playoff games this season.The six-foot-four, 215-pound Lavoie was second in goals, tied for first in game-winning goals (4) and fourth in assists among blueliners in the QMJHL.Over three seasons in Sydney, the first overall pick in 2022 has recorded 20 goals and 95 points in 184 games.
