(Saskatoon Police Service)A Saskatoon man who spied on 23 unknowing women has been sentenced to nearly three years behind bars. Kyle Hameluck secretly watched, filmed or took photos of women between December 2024 and March 2025 on the east side of Saskatoon. He recorded the victims through their bedroom, bathroom and living room windows at night, capturing them in various stages of undress.Hameluck pleaded guilty to 23 counts of voyeurism and two counts of breaching his probation conditions. “You hurt these victims and you hurt them badly,” Saskatoon Court of King’s Bench Justice Krista Zerr said at Hameluck’s sentencing hearing on Thursday.  “You changed the way they and their families move throughout the world.” As she spoke, she reflected on how Hameluck harmed the women and their lasting psychological trauma. Some of the victims told the court of experiencing sleeplessness, exhaustion, hypervigilance, anxiety, vulnerability, fear, violation and shame. Some also spoke about a loss of security, trust and sanctuary, saying they cannot find peace or serenity. Zerr said Hameluck exploited his victims’ powerlessness for his own sexual gratification and took away their right to choose when and how they wanted to be seen. The judge said Hameluck’s moral culpability was high, noting his history of similar offences, the high number of victims, the fact that he returned to the same house multiple times and that he was on probation when he committed the crimes. Hameluck was sentenced to nearly three years, but with credit for time served he will be released from custody in just under seven months. The judge said “successfully managing this form of sexual deviancy will not be easy” and agreed to impose several conditions on Hameluck once he is out of custody.  He will be on probation for two years following his release. Hameluck’s conditions include abiding by a curfew, getting treatment for addictions and sexual offending, attending personal counselling and abstaining from cannabis. He also will not be allowed to have any devices that can take photos.Crown prosecutor Leslie Dunning said outside court that she hopes the sentence shows victims that crimes like this are taken “very seriously.” “We want them to feel safe and protected and I know that’s difficult when we have situations like this happen. The conditions that were set up for Mr. Hameluck upon his release are onerous and they do provide that public protection.”She said she was not able to find any evidence that a longer sentence for similar offences has ever been imposed on an offender. Hameluck is well known to Saskatoon police and the criminal justice system. In 2020, he pleaded guilty to 38 counts of voyeurism involving 25 victims. Those offences were committed while he was on probation for voyeurism and indecent assault convictions from 2017.During his sentencing hearing this week, Hameluck told the judge this time would be different because he is “ready and willing to seek treatment.” With files from Dan Zakreski
