(Sean Kilpatrick/The Canadian Press)For the second consecutive day, the unseasonably balmy fall weather in Ottawa has shattered heat records.Monday’s temperature at the Ottawa Airport had reached 29 C at 3 p.m., making this the hottest Oct. 6 on record and toppling the previous record of 26.2 C set in 2005, according to Environment Canada.Sunday’s high of 29.9 C also marked the hottest Oct. 5 on record, breaking the previous high of 27 C set in 1991, the weather agency said. “The normal high end for Ottawa should be 14 C, not 30 C,” said Environment Canada climatologist David Phillips. “This is like the dog days of summer…. This is quite, quite something.”The record breaking-temperatures fall temperatures follow a hot, dry summer.That has prompted all six of eastern Ontario’s conservation authorities to issue low water level statements, and to urge the public to reduce their water usage.
