(CBC)Health officials are warning the public might have been exposed to measles at four sites in southern Manitoba, including health-care facilities in Stonewall and Portage la Prairie, as well as at an addictions recovery facility in Winnipeg.Anyone who was at the Portage Clinic at 140 Ninth St. E. in Portage la Prairie on Oct. 4 from 12:40 to 3:15 p.m. should monitor for symptoms until Oct. 26, the province said in a Tuesday news release.People who were at the Interlake Medicentres in Stonewall, at 2-330 Third Ave. S., from 2:15 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 1 , should monitor for symptoms until Oct. 23.The province is also warning people might have been exposed at the Beyond Bread store at 368 Main St. in Stonewall. The province is asking those who were at the store on Oct. 26 from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. to monitor for symptoms until Oct. 18.The province is also asking people who were at the Adult and Teen Challenge addictions recovery centre at 83 Kate St. in Winnipeg on Sept. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to monitor for symptoms until Oct. 17.Anyone who might have been exposed to measles at these locations is asked to check their immunization records to ensure they are up to date with the measles vaccine.Measles spreads through droplets formed in the air when someone coughs, sneezes or talks. It can linger on surfaces for two hours after contact with an infected person.People could be at risk of contracting the highly contagious disease after spending just a few minutes in the same room with an infected person.Symptoms can appear between seven to 21 after exposure and may include a fever, runny nose, drowsiness, red eyes and small white dots on the inside of the throat and mouth. Manitoba had 216 confirmed cases of measles and another 18 probable cases as of Sept. 27, according to the latest data available from the province. A full list of reported measles exposure sites is available on the province’s website.
