It would also be energy efficient and include a range of new amenities that prioritize accessibility to ensure people of all abilities can fully participate in the sport.Article contentIn February, Stone told the Cape Breton Post that the initial estimate for the project was $18 million.Article content“We have secured about 80 per cent of our funding and are currently negotiating the last bit of funding to get to the next phase of the project started,” said Stone in an update. “We have our final round of drawings and blueprints next on the docket and hopefully securing a contractor and breaking ground in early 2026.”Article contentArticle contentStone said the new venue will allow the club to grow capacity for leagues and curling overall by 50 per cent.Article content“With the club being at max capacity now, we have put member recruitment lower on the priority list for the next year or two until we have the space to host everyone,” he said.Article content“With a six-sheet facility, we can bid on national events that do not take place in an arena such as club championships, mixed championships, senior championships and more.
