(Winnipeg Police Service)A man in his 30s was robbed and shot in Winnipeg’s West End while meeting someone for a sale that had been arranged through an online platform, police say.He was rushed to hospital in critical condition and sustained life-altering injuries. His condition has since been upgraded to stable.The victim was selling an electronic device on Oct. 11 when he was attacked around 2 p.m. on Maryland Street, between Sargent and Wellington avenues, police said.Police released images of the suspect carrying what appears to be a computer laptop, but spokesperson Const. Dani McKinnon said she couldn’t confirm that was the stolen item.The major crimes unit urges anyone with information to contact them at 204-986-6219.”We need to find out who this suspect is. He needs to be identified,” McKinnon said. “And that’s going to happen through the public.”Anonymous tips can also be called in to Crime Stoppers 204-786-8477 or submitted online.”I don’t want anybody else to sell an item to him and get hurt,” McKinnon said. “Be really aware.”People are encouraged to use buy-and-sell exchange zones at Winnipeg Police Service stations when conducting transactions from online sales.
