(Ontario Provincial Police/X)People in the potential path of a wildfire near Ompah in North Frontenac were asked to leave their homes Sunday evening, according to the township and Ontario Provincial Police.The township said a wildfire had broken out between South Lavant and Snow roads.OPP said around 6 p.m. that it had closed part of Highway 509 due to the flames.Roughly an hour later, it said windy conditions were pushing the fire both north and east. The township said police were helping people evacuate.Turn to CBC Lite for low-bandwidth basic updatesTwo evacuation centres have been set up at the Ompah Community Hall at at 10200 Road 509, and the Community Hall at 14073 Road 509.OPP said Monday morning there had been no reports of injuries or serious damage and no further evacuations. Overnight rain seems to have helped, it added.Road 509 is closed between South Lavant Road and Elphin-Maberly Road east of Ompah, which is between Calabogie and Sharbot Lake west of Ottawa.There’s no information available on the fire from the Ministry of Natural Resources, which lists four other fires in parts of eastern Ontario that it monitors.Part of Road 509 in North Frontenac is closed because of a wildfire.
