Photo by Richard MacKenzie /The NewsArticle contentArticle contentThe Nighthawks started well the following day in the battle of Northumberland Region rivals, taking a 1-0 lead into the third inning, but the Cougars came roaring back in the third to score six runs and take command of the game.  Article contentBrody Battist and Gavin MacDonald split time on the mound for the Nighthawks, where they combined to give up nine hits and six walks, while striking out three CEC batters. Article contentOffensively for NRHS, Brody MacLennan singled twice in the contest while also walking once to reach base in all three of his plate appearances.   Article content Silas Meier, Ashton Chislett, and Battist added hits for the Nighthawks. Article contentWalker said the 2025 team featured a mixture of seniors and younger grades, so the Nighthawks have the potential to return a strong core for next year’s season. Article content“It was a great year overall,” he added. Article content The NRHS Nighthawks line up on the first base line to receive their silver medals, after the Oct. 18 championship game in Truro.
