Immunization remains our best defense against measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases.” Public Health said there are no known active cases of measles in Nova Scotia.Muecke said the Nova Scotia outbreak was contained “through a coordinated Public Health response that included testing, contact tracing, vaccination, monitoring and education.”Nova Scotia Health said two doses of vaccine protect most people from measles. It said every person born after 1970 should receive two doses of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine after their first birthday.People born before 1970 are considered immune because they were likely exposed to the virus when they were younger.
