An 85-year-old man and 84-year-old woman were found on the trail near Springfield, N.S., after officers received a report indicating that human remains had been discovered in the area. Police said they were located near a vehicle that looked like it had become stuck on the trail in rugged terrain. The Mounties said they believe the man and woman, who were known to each other, had been on the trail for up to three days before they were found. An investigation into the exact timeline of the incident is ongoing. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service is also assisting.
