(Upper Kingsclear Fire Department/Facebook)Fire destroyed the Capital City Auto Parts building on Fredericton’s Alison Boulevard on Friday night.The Fredericton fire department responded to the call just before 10 p.m. Firefighters from Oromocto and Upper Kingsclear were also called to assist, says Fredericton’s Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Craig Harnum.About 40 per cent of the building had visible flames when firefighters arrived, Harnum said.He said the structure later collapsed.The fire continued to burn until Saturday morning. The scene was cleared in the afternoon.Several fire trucks were used to move water to the fire site. (Fredericton Fire Department)Harnum said the nearest fire hydrant was more than a kilometre away. He said the department had to have eight engine tankers transport water between the hydrant and the site. He said roughly 32 firefighters were on scene.The auto part business building is considered a total loss.
