Brewer said there is also more space for training and responding to emergencies.”When the truck would move, you’d have to lean up against your locker for the truck to move out, and lean in just to let people by you to just get into the gear racks … it was crazy,” she said. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Main Street fire station was held on Saturday morning in Salisbury. (Victoria Walton/CBC)The station cost more than $7 million to build. Other upgrades include showers, an indoor gym, kitchen/lounge area, offices, shared working spaces and a better washing machine for firefighting gear. “Oh, it feels like we’re in a mansion right now,” said Brewer.Fire Chief Bradley MacLeod said he’s happy to have an office. The number of firefighters was previously capped to 27 due to limited locker space at the old station, he said.Salisbury Fire Chief Bradley MacLeod says cellphone coverage in the area remains a problem. He said the Wi-Fi cuts-out as soon as he leaves the building, restricting the flow of information during emergencies.”The cellphone troubles are still impacting us.” he said.
