(CBC)A 26-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of an 18-year-old woman in Grandmother’s Bay last weekend, Saskatchewan RCMP say.La Ronge RCMP received a report on Sunday, Nov. 2, of an assault in front of a home in the northern community, where they found an injured man and woman. The woman died at the scene. She has been identified as Melissa Charles, and 18-year-old from Grandmother’s Bay. Her family has been notified, RCMP said in a Saturday news release.The injured man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.RCMP allege Keyland McLeod, 26, had an altercation with the two victims which led to their injuries. He was arrested in the community shortly after the incident.In addition to the second-degree murder in connection with Charles’s death, McLeod was charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of uttering threats.He appeared in a La Ronge provincial court last Monday.
