(Roger Cosman/CBC)A Saint John Transit bus struck and killed a 43-year old woman a little after 6 a.m. Thursday.Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene in east Saint John at about 6:10 a.m., police said.Saint John police, forensic services and the coroner’s office are still investigating, police said in a news release. The woman died at the scene of the accident, which happened on Loch Lomond Road near McDonald Street.Police spokesperson Staff Sergeant Sarah Hobbs would not identify the victim or explain how the accident happened.Hobbs said the investigation was still in the early stages.“We do have investigators assigned to this, and there were witnesses on scene that were able to provide information to us,” she said.The portion of Loch Lomond Road between McDonald Street and Courtenay Avenue was closed while police investigated but was reopened in early afternoon.Hobbs said investigators are appealing to witnesses who may have dashcam footage or other video of the Loch Lomond and McDonald intersection to come forward. She said the family of the victim has been notified, and police send their condolences.The city also sent condolences to the family in a statement that said the city is co-operating fully with the investigation.
