In a news release, police said officers responded to a 911 call early Sunday for a woman in medical distress in the community roughly 35 kilometres northwest of Sydney.The woman was taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital and later died.A man was arrested at the scene.On Monday, police said 40-year-old Sluaghan MacDonald of Sydney Mines has been charged with second-degree murder.Police said the investigation is ongoing but they are treating this as an isolated incident with no further risk to public safety. In an earlier news release, investigators said the woman and the man who was arrested at the scene knew each other.The police are urging anyone with information, or anyone who may have video footage from the area, to come forward.
