On Sunday, Nov. 9, the Alberta Inuit Women’s Association (AIWA) held a gathering to celebrate Inuit. Many Inuit living in or visiting the Edmonton area came together for a feast of country food, prizes, games and social interaction. Prizes were donated by many local organizations around Edmonton and area and from our home lands. A special quana to the volunteers who made the event successful. There were kids games, adult games and people were visiting with each other. It was special to be together, as many people always miss home and their families. This was another way to feel at home. Quana AIWA and job well done, and see you at the Christmas gathering. Quana, Kadlugak! Uuva Kadlugak Edmontonmi Inuit katimajun ulapqijutlu, nirivaktutlu ipakhani. International Inuit Day was celebrated in Edmonton on Nov. 9. Good country food along with games and prizes were provided. It was fun to be together as Inuit. One of the games was string games, played with dice. It’s always a popular game with Elders and Inuit at home. Navalik Tologanak/NNSL photo
