Many Americans, myself included, view these actions with deep regret and are committed to restoring the trust and co-operation that have historically defined our cross-border interactions.Here in Alaska, your western neighbor, our connection to Canada is deeply felt. When O Canada is played at events, it resonates with us, reminding us of our shared histories and mutual respect. Our communities are enriched by Canadian influences, and we take pride in the collaborative spirit that has long united us. Just as we honor the Stars and Stripes, we hold the Maple Leaf in high regard, understanding the sacrifices made under both flags.Now is the time for healing and reaffirmation of our roles as good, trusting neighbors. Though the border marks a line on a map, our shared values transcend it, binding us together more profoundly.
