Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had attempted to gain entry into a home to see a youth, who was inside.Article contentArticle contentArticle contentThrough the investigation, the release said, officers determined the man began a relationship with the youth in September, which started online.Article contentOn Nov. 22, Eskasoni RCMP, with the assistance of Richmond County District RCMP, safely arrested Ethan Arnold Battiste, 21, at his residence in Chapel Island.Article contentA search warrant had been executed and a electronic device was seized, the RCMP release said.Article contentBattiste has been charged with three counts of sexual Interference and three counts of sexual assault, as well as charges for making sexually explicit material available to a child, luring a child, invitation to sexual touching, and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material.Article contentThe release said Battiste is also charged with break and enter, uttering threats, mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with undertaking.Article contentBattiste remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court on Dec. 16.Article contentGiven Battiste’s online presence, investigators believe there may be additional victims, the release said.Article contentRCMP officers are encouraging other survivors to come forward by contacting their local detachment or police of jurisdiction, the release added.Article content
