Simon Dubois led the Islanders with two hits in three at-bats and scored a team-leading three runs.Article contentArticle contentA six-run bottom of the second inning opened an 8-1 lead for the Islanders, who never looked back.Article contentArticle contentAgainst Saskatchewan, veteran Brody McDonald followed up Dow’s performance with another gem. The left-handed McDonald pitched six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits, no walks and striking out seven. Nathan Van Putten came on to retire the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to earn the save on two strikeouts and a highlight-play from Kraft, who made an outstanding jumping catch at the centre-field fence for the second out.Article contentOffensively, Dillon Doucette went 2-for-3 to lead the Islanders and drove in the game’s first run with a first-inning single to plate Dubois. Logan MacDougall connected for a solo home run in the top of the third to give the Islanders a 2-0 lead.
