2025 heavy garbage pickup dates set for remaining municipalities on Cape Breton Island

And for this year, the pickup “is being completed by a third-party contractor (and thus) the route will likely vary,” the county’s website said.“Items should not be placed out after your area has been collected, as they will not be picked up.”More information can be found by visiting victoriacounty.ca or its Facebook page.Richmond CountyMeanwhile, Richmond County residents will get to dispose of their heavy garbage items between May 5 and June 1, depending on which area of the county you live in.The pickup schedule will then run as follows:• May 5-11: For residents in Petit de Grat, Little Anse, Alderney Point, Boudreauville; St. Peter’s, River Bourgeois; and Fourchu, Framboise, Grand River, Point Michaud and Lower L’Ardoise• May 12-18: For residents in Rocky Bay, Cap Le Ronde, D’Escousse, Martinique, Grandique Road; Louisdale, Grand Anse, Lennox Passage; and L’Ardoise to St. Peter’sArticle content• May 19-25: For residents in Arichat, Cap Auget, West Arichat, Janvrin’s Island; Dundee, St. George’s Channel, Samsonville, Black River, Oban, Seaview; and Johnstown, Loch Lomond to St. Peter’s• May 26-June 1: For residents in remaining portions of Isle Madame; Evanston, Lower River Inhabitants, Whiteside, Kempt Road, Point Tupper; and remaining portions of Richmond east of St. Peter’s Canal.All bulky items put out for the collection must be placed no later than the Monday, May 5, at 6 a.m. To learn more about the pickup and what items can be placed curbside, go online to Richmond County’s website (richmondcounty.ca) or the municipality’s Facebook page.Town of Port HawkesburyAnd finally, the Town of Port Hawkesbury will hold its heavy garbage blitz (also known as the Residential Curbside Spring Cleanup) from May 12-16. All acceptable items must be placed at the curbside no later than 6 a.m. on the Monday, May 12, and there will be only one collection per residence during that week.For further information on what can (or cannot) be placed at the curbside that week, visit the Town of Port Hawkesbury’s website (townofporthawkesbury.ca) or its Facebook page.Already reportedThe Cape Breton Post has already reported that heavy garbage collection in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality will begin its weeklong blitz starting April 30, while Inverness County residents will put out their heavy garbage for pickup by 6 a.m. May 12, with its blitz set for May 12-16.Article content
