(Jamie Randy Felix/Instagram)The man charged in a mass shooting at a Winnipeg rooming house has pleaded not guilty to all charges.Jamie Randy Felix entered his plea during a hearing at the Court of King’s Bench Monday morning, four months after the sole survivor of the November 2023 shooting on Langside Street died in hospital.Felix originally faced four counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder, but the latter was upgraded to a second-degree murder charge after Shawn Marko, 56, died in June.Marko had been in hospital since the shooting. His family told CBC News he was shot three times, and his injuries required 11 surgeries.He had been celebrating his 55th birthday the night of the shooting, the family said.Felix also pleaded not guilty in the deaths of Melelek Leseri Lesikel, 29, Dylan Maxwell Lavallee, 41, and sisters Crystal Shannon Beardy, 34, and Stephanie Amanda Beardy, 33.Court documents from before the shooting said Felix — a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces — had a history of psychotic episodes linked to seizures and substance abuse, and that he’d been diagnosed with alcohol use disorder and depression.ABOUT THE AUTHORArturo Chang is a reporter with CBC Manitoba.
