The family of Jon Wells couldn’t believe what they were hearing: The Calgary Police Service received a gift of 15 eagle feathers earlier this week. The police announced the feathers came from nearby Kainai First Nation (Blood Tribe) and Siksika nation – and were blessed in a special ceremony. They are to be used during swearing-in events. Yet, Calgary police are under investigation for the death of Wells, 42, of Kainai, during an altercation last September.
