An investigation revealed that two adult males were involved in an altercation when one man assaulted the other with a knife.  Article contentArticle contentArticle contentThe suspect fled the scene, but the NGRP Major Crime Unit was able to locate and arrest 37-year-old James Michael Murchison later that morning. Article contentMurchison was scheduled to appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Pictou on Aug. 25. Article contentThe 46-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was later released by Aberdeen Hospital.   Article contentThe investigation continues, and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact NGRP at 902-752-1941.  Article contentThose who wish to remain anonymous can contact Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through their website. Article contentStabbing incident in the Clyde Street area Article contentAlso, in the early morning hours of Aug. 23, approximately 2:30 a.m., NGRP responded to a report of an altercation involving four to five youth where one man was found who had been stabbed. Article contentAgain, the victim, a 28-year-old, was transported to the Aberdeen Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Article contentArticle contentNGRP reported that their preliminary investigation leads them to believe the incident is isolated.  Article contentThey continue to investigate and are looking to identify the person(s) responsible or anyone who may have witnessed the event. Article contentThose who may have information can use the contacts listed above.  Article contentSuspicious fire Article contentNGRP are also seeking public assistance regarding a suspicious fire at a residence in the 600 block of Little Harbour Road in New Glasgow, late at night on Aug. 22. Article contentTwo residents were in the apartment at the time and were able to escape unharmed as the fire was contained to the front of the apartment. Another two residents were not at home at the time. Article contentNGRP believes the fire to be suspicious and continues to investigate alongside the New Glasgow Fire Department and the Nova Scotia Fire Marshals’ Office. Article contentAgain, public assistance is requested, including dashcam footage any motorists may have taken.  Article contentArticle content
