Anxiety builds in P.E.I.’s oyster industry after CFIA confirms presence of mollusc disease dermo

5 hours agoNewsDuration 2:12Oyster harvesters on Prince Edward Island have been spending the last year worried about the detection of a disease called MSX, which doesn’t hurt humans but can kill off oyster production in a big way. Now another disease has been confirmed in P.E.I. waters: Samples from Egmont Bay have tested positive for a disease called dermo. The executive director of the P.E.I. Aquaculture Alliance, Peter Warris (shown), is among those who spoke to CBC’s Tony Davis.
